What is a Celebrity?

Celebrity is a term used to describe people who have high public profiles and command some degree of public fascination and influence. This can be a permanent or temporary state of fame. It is often a result of a specific profession, but it can also be the result of a person’s appearance in the media or even by sheer accident.

The word ‘celebrity’ derives from the Latin word celebi meaning “to shine” or to be famous. It is a common term in the fields of sports and entertainment, but it can be applied to any professional who has high levels of fame.

There are many different ways to become a celebrity; one way is through an achievement, another by achieving fame by way of notoriety or thirdly by way of a family connection. A royal family (such as the British Royal family), celebrities in music, and actors are all examples of people who have achieved celebrity status.

In the 12th century, Thomas Becket became famous after his death. He was promoted by the Church as a martyr and images of him and scenes from his life became widely popular in a very short period of time. His popularity was reflected in pilgrimages to Canterbury Cathedral and his image became very popular.

A celebrity is a highly visible figure in society, and result the media pays close attention to them. Their lives are often portrayed in tabloid magazines and talk TV shows. They are alternately portrayed as glowing examples of perfection, when they garner awards, or as decadent or immoral if they become associated with a scandal.

Their lives are very public, and they often have to make decisions and take decisions quickly to avoid getting into trouble with the law. This can lead to problems with their reputation and image.

They can also be very rich due to their fame, and they are often seen as the role models for other people in society. This can create a love/hate relationship between the public and celebrities.

Some celebrities may also choose to engage in other business ventures and endorsements as a means of building additional wealth. These can include endorsements with products such as animation, publishing, fashion designing, consumer electronics, cigarettes, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, hair care, hairdressing, jewelry design, fast food, credit cards, video games, writing and toys.

These endorsements may or may not be successful. Some have gone broke or filed for bankruptcy as a result of participating in these business ventures and endorsements.

The success of a celebrity is usually dependent on their ability to entertain. There are many people who have talent but cannot perform to a high level of success, while others are born with a certain type of personality that can make them stand out and be successful.

A celebrity’s career can be a long and difficult road to get on, but it can also be extremely lucrative. In addition to a good talent, it is important for a celebrity to have the right connections and the right image in order to be successful.
